Stockade Fence Room Partition Divider Loft Area
I moved into small lakefront home with a large 30' x 12' open loft bedroom. Six months later I decided to utilize this large room to maximize my limited space. A room divider was all I needed for an additional room to entertain/relax as well as provide privacy for a bedroom area. Wanting to keep with my country decor/outdoor theme, I came up with the idea of a stockade fence. I imagined it would look pretty cool but at the same time I was a little hesitant. And folks I'd mentioned this to lifted an eyebrow. Fortunately, I was very happy with the results, this being a good thing seeing as it was quite a job lifting this 6' x 8' fence up. It was also very economical costing me under $100 in total. I used the same color paint to give it more of a room appearance and ended the fence across from center post to create entrance effect. Footed post is finished with the cupola cap which was something I just had displayed on a shelf collecing dust. It is free standing and supported with 3 L brackets in wall making it easily removable. Everyone including the skeptics love it and are amazed with my creativity. Thanks for taking the time to look!

Wow! I have an oversized loft as well and have struggled with what do with one side of the loft. You're idea of a room divider would be still preserve the large loft should you want to sell you house later, but still enable you to make the room 2! Great idea!

Thank you Krispyrn! I plan on submitting this idea soon to HGTV's "Rate my space" with a few updated pics, and, if I am able, add additional info. With money being tight for many, it really is pretty inexpensive. And true, caulk a few screw holes and repairs are done should it need to be removed! If you chose to do this yourself, (or anyone else) I'd really love to see photo's!
~ Peace ~
